ICP Group is seeking to identify a Quality Control Technician for our 2nd shift. This role will have Quality Control responsibility for both of our Lynchburg Plants (Carroll & Buchanan). The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring, documenting and validating that all products manufactured in the plant meet defined product specifications. Ensuring we provide our customers with consistent high-quality products.
This is a 2nd shift position - 3:30pm – 2am Monday – Thursday (shift concludes Friday at 2am). This position pays $21.00/hour plus $.65/hour shift differential.
Responsibilities:
Strict adherence to all plant safety requirements including wearing proper PPE both in the plant and in the lab when testing materials
Following specific SOP’s or guidelines utilize various measuring devices to perform routine quality checks during every production run to verify products fall within defined product specifications
Using Microsoft Excel or manual documents, record all testing results, track deviations and trends plus alert management of non-compliance
During production runs, maintain constant communication with operators, informing them of quality results and suggesting process changes should testing results move significantly or fall outside of defined parameters.
Test incoming raw materials as needed to ensure those items meet expected quality standards.
Ensure finished products do not meet requirements or in question are guaranteed both in physical location and within the SAGE operating system.
Coordinate with production for the testing and release of finished products from quarantine or the proper disposition of material not meeting specifications
Seek assistance from production management and / or corporate lab personnel when issues arise that cannot be managed or corrected by normal plant protocol.
Coordinate the collection of samples and properly store for the purpose of supporting quality concerns in the field should they arise
Maintain work area in an organized, clean and safe environment
Train other employees on testing procedures
Attend safety meetings, conduct safety audits
Participate in trial production runs, sometimes requiring support on the plant floor
With approval from the QC Supervisor, order and maintain lab supplies
Periodically audit, create and revise SOP’s to ensure accurate testing and process procedures
Safely perform all other duties as required by supervisor on an as needed basis
Weekly and monthly cycle counts.
Experience needed
Experience working in a manufacturing environment required
6-12 months of working experience in a Quality Control specific role required; experience as a quality lab technician preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Ability to travel between our 2 Lynchburg manufacturing plants (within a mile from each other)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Must have 20/20 or corrected 20/20 vision
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Must exhibit strong math skills essential for calculating test results
Must feel comfortable using measurements in different Units of Measure (UOM)
Comfortable using a computer to enter data and run reports, basic ERP and excel knowledge is required
Ability to count and organize documentation
Employee must be able to safely lift 70 pounds without difficulty
Must demonstrate the dexterity to use various testing devices repeatedly and consistently
Statistical analysis background preferred
Background testing various types of materials and recording results preferred
Experience with Quality Control/Assurance requirements
